AzerGold CJSC aims to significantly expand the value chain in the mining industry by 2030.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that AzerGold Chairman Zakir Ibrahimov made the statement at a meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev on the State Program for the Development of the Mining (Metal Ores) and Metallurgy Industries for 2027-2030.

AzerGold’s operations already cover all major stages of the mining industry’s value chain. The company has also launched geological exploration, bringing exploration, extraction, processing, export and sales together within a unified system. Modern hyperspectral and airborne electromagnetical and magnetic survey methods are being used in geological exploration to identify new promising areas and discover resources. Approximately 70,000 ounces of gold are produced annually at the Chovdar deposit using two different processing technologies. Gold- and silver-bearing alloys are produced during processing, with most exported and the remainder sold on the domestic market.

To significantly expand its value chain by 2030, AzerGold will prepare the Filizchay, Dashkasan, Ortakand and Soyudlu deposits for development. Filizchay will feature full-scale processing of copper, zinc and lead; gold will be processed using flotation technology at Soyudlu; and the Dashkasan project will create capacity to produce 2 million tons of high-quality hot-briquetted iron annually for the steelmaking sector. As a result, AzerGold will substantially increase Azerbaijan’s export potential for precious, non-ferrous and ferrous metals,” he said.
