The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Azerbaijan has issued an appeal to the population regarding the unstable weather conditions currently observed across various regions of the country.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry reported that rainy and unstable weather is currently affecting several districts, with flash floods occurring in some mountain rivers. Forecasters predict that the rainy and windy weather conditions will persist over the coming days.
The MES advised citizens to stay away from areas prone to flooding and landslides, and to immediately move to higher ground if faced with such hazards. In addition, the ministry warned of lightning risks, advising the public to disconnect electrical appliances, avoid using phones, and stay away from power lines, antennas, and tall trees when outdoors. Motorists are advised to stop their vehicles, roll up windows, and wait out the storm.
During strong winds, citizens are urged to keep distance from light construction, billboards, and utility poles. The ministry also emphasized that strong winds complicate firefighting efforts, making strict adherence to fire safety rules crucial. Operators of small vessels are strictly prohibited from going out to sea under these conditions. In case of emergency, citizens are urged to call the 112 hotline.
