Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has shared a post recalling its participation in the counterterrorism operation.
Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the post described the 44-day Patriotic War and the localized counterterrorism measures conducted in September 2023 as important stages in the historic process that resulted in the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty:
"During these battles, MIA servicemen and police officers carried out their assigned tasks with a high level of professionalism, courage and dedication.
The heroism of the martyrs, the bravery of the veterans and the determination of the servicemen will forever hold a place in Azerbaijan’s chronicle of victory."
It should be noted that three years ago, at 1 p.m. on September 20, the localized counterterrorism operation launched by the Azerbaijani Army to restore the country’s sovereignty ended after the remnants of Armenian separatist forces in Garabagh raised the white flag and fully accepted the terms of the Azerbaijani authorities.
The operation, which began on September 19, was halted after achieving its objectives in a short period of 23 hours and 50 minutes.
The September 2023 operation followed the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020 and marked a decisive stage in Azerbaijan’s restoration of constitutional order and sovereignty across its internationally recognized territory.
