Some 96,000 people live, work and study in Garabagh and East Zangezur.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks while addressing the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
The head of state said 28 billion manats had been spent on developing the regions, most of it on infrastructure projects. “Most of them have been completed, and former internally displaced persons have already settled in 48 residential areas. In the coming years, the Great Return will proceed even faster,” he said.
The Great Return is Azerbaijan’s resettlement program for people displaced from territories that were liberated. Reconstruction has included infrastructure and housing, alongside efforts to restore access to education, work and other services.
