The Main Department for Combating Cybercrime has detained three individuals as part of an ongoing operation against illegal online casino activities in Azerbaijan.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
According to the report, the cyber police identified the suspects—Maharram Guliyev, Sanan Farziyev, and Hikmat Hasanov—for allegedly luring citizens into illegal betting through platforms such as "Xbet," "MostBet," and "Vimpay," all of which are prohibited within the country.
During the operation, authorities searched a rented apartment in Baku used by the suspects, seizing technical equipment, bank cards, mobile phones, and cash used to facilitate the illicit activities. Investigations revealed that the group had laundered significant sums of money obtained through these prohibited platforms.
The Main Department has initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and further investigative measures are currently underway.
In recent years, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has intensified its efforts to combat cybercrime, particularly targeting illegal gambling operations that operate outside the legal framework of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These operations are part of a broader strategy to protect citizens from financial fraud and the social consequences associated with unregulated gambling.
