Azerbaijani NGOs have issued a statement opposing a campaign launched in Armenia over a visit by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to the liberated territories of Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" presents the statement:
“We, representatives of Azerbaijani civil society, strongly condemn the reaction by various circles in Armenia to the recent visit by the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to liberated Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur.
In essence, this reaction constitutes an encroachment on our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs and an overt attempt at irredentism. These centrally coordinated actions in Armenia seriously undermine the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda and represent an overt provocation aimed at disrupting the ongoing normalization process between the two countries. It has become clear that the Armenian people are not ready for peace. The ‘Real Armenia’ narrative is failing.
The policy of denying the history and culture of the Azerbaijani people, including the rich heritage of Caucasian Albania, must end. The Armenian prime minister refers to the opinion of the Matenadaran Institute to ‘prove’ the Armenian origin of the Gandzasar monastery. It is strange: who gave the Matenadaran Institute the authority to determine the origin of a monument located in the sovereign territory of another country? Answer this question, gentlemen! Are you not tired of false history, the disease of national exceptionalism and hostility? Why have remnants of the former separatist regime, which declared its dissolution in September 2023, reappeared and begun sending absurd letters to various diplomatic missions and international organizations?
Attempts by Armenia, which turned ethnic hatred against the Azerbaijani people into state policy, kept Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur under occupation for 30 years, committed the Khojaly genocide and destroyed our historical and cultural heritage, to interfere in our country's internal affairs are unacceptable!
We have not forgotten the looting and falsification of the cultural and religious heritage of the Azerbaijani people in Armenia. We have not forgotten the destruction of the Sardar Palace and our cemeteries, the desecration of the grave of Dada Alasgar and the distortion of the Blue Mosque.
If the Armenian government is genuinely committed to a peace agenda with Azerbaijan, it must end this hysteria and hostility and hold accountable the individuals and organizations that it still allows to operate and that promote irredentist ideas against Azerbaijan.
As representatives of Azerbaijani civil society, we are firmly convinced that the Azerbaijani state will resolutely prevent such actions by Armenia and its supporters targeting our country.
