Azerbaijan wins three medals at world weightlifting championships

Azerbaijani weightlifters have won three medals at the World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the capital of Greece.

Vagif Musaddiq became world champion in the M70 age group’s 85-kilogram weight category, recording a total of 147 kilograms in the snatch and clean and jerk.

Zulfugar Suleymanov also reached the top of the podium in the M40 age group’s up-to-75-kilogram category. He won the gold medal with a combined result of 249 kilograms.

Saddar Guliyev, competing in the M75 age group’s up-to-85-kilogram category, secured the silver medal with a total of 126 kilograms.

Overall, Azerbaijani weightlifters finished the world championships with two gold and one silver medal. The World Masters Weightlifting Championships bring together athletes competing in age-based categories, with results determined by the combined totals from the snatch and clean and jerk.
