Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has been developing dynamically in recent years, particularly within the economic, energy, and transport sectors.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this trend is clearly reflected in the trade indicators between the two nations. In 2025, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan increased more than threefold compared to 2024, reaching $795 million. Furthermore, during the period of January-May 2026, the trade turnover between the two countries grew by 33 percent year-on-year, amounting to $144 million.
The strengthening of these bilateral ties is largely driven by strategic agreements signed between President Ilham Aliyev and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These high-level initiatives focus on optimizing logistics corridors, including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and diversifying trade commodities. As both nations seek to enhance regional connectivity, these economic partnerships serve as a cornerstone for broader integration within the Central Asian and South Caucasus regions.
