Azerbaijan’s women’s under-20 volleyball team is targeting a top-three finish at the EEVZA championship, the first qualifying round of the European Championship. Head coach Gökhan Edman said the team was well prepared for the competition and that they had assembled a squad capable of challenging their opponents.
The Turkish coach said Azerbaijan will face Poland and Latvia in Group A. The group winners will play for first place, while the second-placed teams will compete for third. Edman also thanked the previous coaching staff, saying he had taken over a strong team from them.

The squad is currently at a training camp in Guba, where it has worked for two weeks with volleyball players from the youth and under-16 age groups. Edman said the roster had been changed following the selection process and that the team was working to become more competitive ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
The EEVZA championship will be held in Rustavi, Georgia, from Oct. 22 to 25. Teams from Azerbaijan, Poland, Latvia, Armenia, Ukraine, Estonia and host nation Georgia will take part.
Group B will feature the teams from Estonia, Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine.
