Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has adopted at final reading an amendment on the public disclosure of environmental impact assessment reports.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that draft amendments to the laws “On Environmental Protection” and “On Environmental Impact Assessment” were discussed at today’s plenary session of the parliament’s autumn session.
Under the draft, industrial environmental monitoring is a system for observing and studying changes in the state of the environment resulting from the impact of economic activity.
It was noted that nature users—legal entities engaged in activities for which an environmental impact assessment is required under the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Environmental Impact Assessment”—must conduct industrial environmental monitoring.
In accordance with the legislation, the types of measuring instruments used in industrial environmental monitoring must be approved and the instruments must undergo verification.
An annual report on the results of industrial environmental monitoring must be submitted to the body (institution) designated by the relevant executive authority, in the form it specifies, no later than February 1 of the following year.
After discussion, the draft was put to a vote and adopted at third reading.
