Azerbaijan plans to increase the volume of transit freight passing through its territory to 25 million tons by 2030.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the statement at an event titled “Restoring trust in a fragmented world: The South Caucasus as a pillar of global connectivity and investment stability,” held in Baku as part of the II Azerbaijan International Investment Forum under his patronage.
The target reflects Azerbaijan’s efforts to strengthen its role as a regional transport and logistics hub. The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, connects China and Central Asia with Europe via the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye. Azerbaijan has been developing roads, railways, ports and logistics facilities to expand transit capacity along the route.
