The mixed team event will take place on the final day of the judo world championships in Baku. A total of 192 athletes from 18 countries will compete at the National Gymnastics Arena.
Azerbaijan will begin its campaign in the round of 32, where its first opponent will be Austria. If the team advances, it will face Japan in the round of 16.
Azerbaijan team roster
The team event features bouts across six weight categories. Men will compete at 73 kg, 90 kg and over 90 kg, while the women’s categories are 57 kg, 70 kg and over 70 kg.
Azerbaijan’s team includes 11 judokas. In the women’s 57 kg category, Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and Khadija Gadasheva will compete; in the 70 kg category, Sudaba Agayeva and Hanna Zaitseva; and in the over-70 kg category, Madina Kaisinova.
Among the men, Rashid Mammadaliyev and Ruslan Pashayev will compete at 73 kg, Zelim Tchkaev and Suleyman Shukurov at 90 kg, and Zelim Kotsiyev and Ushangi Kokauri in the over-90 kg category. The qualifying rounds will begin at 9:30 a.m. Baku time, with the final block scheduled for 6 p.m.
Azerbaijan finished the individual events with seven medals. Ahmad Yusifov won gold, Zelim Tchkaev and Ushangi Kokauri took silver, while Rashid Mammadaliyev, Omar Rajabli, Murad Fat iyev and Kenan Nasibov won bronze.
