Azerbaijan plans to complete the construction of a new electrolysis plant and significantly increase its industrial output as part of the "State Program for the development of mining (metal ores) and metallurgy industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027-2030."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these objectives were outlined in a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev regarding measures to ensure the development of the mining and metallurgical sectors in Azerbaijan. The document specifies that the annual production capacity of the electrolysis plant is projected to reach 100,000 tons by 2030.
Furthermore, the decree emphasizes the expansion of Azeraluminium Limited Liability Company's production capabilities. To enhance the "raw material-processing-final product" value chain and increase export potential, the project for manufacturing aluminum rolled products will continue, with a target to reach an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons by 2030.
The metallurgical sector remains a cornerstone of Azerbaijan's non-oil economy, aimed at diversifying the country's industrial base and reducing import dependency. By investing in high-tech processing facilities and expanding the value chain, Azerbaijan seeks to strengthen its position as a regional hub for industrial manufacturing and metal exports, leveraging its rich natural resources and strategic geographic location.
