In 2025, the number of officially registered marriages involving individuals under the age of 18 in Azerbaijan totaled 117, according to the latest data from the State Statistics Committee.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, these figures were detailed in the statistical collection titled "Children in Azerbaijan." The breakdown indicates that 116 of these marriages involved girls, while one involved a boy. For comparison, in 2024, there were 185 such cases, all involving girls.

The total number of marriages registered in the country stood at 48,546 in 2025, a slight decrease from the 49,508 marriages recorded in 2024. Under Azerbaijani legislation, the legal age for marriage is set at 18 years.

Early marriage remains a subject of significant social and policy focus in Azerbaijan. The government, alongside international partners, continues to implement awareness campaigns and legal frameworks aimed at protecting the rights of minors and ensuring that education remains the priority for young people. While the statistical trend shows a decline in early marriages compared to previous years, authorities and civil society organizations continue to monitor the situation to address the underlying socio-economic factors that contribute to these occurrences.
