Agricultural development is impossible without a reliable water supply, President Ilham Aliyev said, adding that projects for the reconstruction of 10 reservoirs are currently being implemented in Azerbaijan.
Speaking at a meeting dedicated to agricultural issues, the head of state highlighted several major infrastructure projects, Operative Information Center-OMM reports. President Ilham Aliyev noted that following the liberation of Garabagh and East Zangilan from occupation, Azerbaijan immediately launched the restoration of local water reservoirs, including Kondalanchay, Khachinchay, Sugovushan, Sarsang, and Zabukhchay, while construction is ongoing for the Bargushad and Hekari reservoirs.
Garabagh and East Zangilan account for approximately 25 percent of Azerbaijan's total water resources. The Azerbaijani government is actively working to integrate these resources into the national irrigation network, aiming to expand modern irrigation systems from the current 130,000 hectares to 300,000 hectares to significantly boost agricultural productivity across the country.
