Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has offered condolences to Kazakhstan’s Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Dauren Kossanov, over the deaths of Kazakh servicemen.
The Ministry of Defense told “Operative Information Center-OMM”.
“I was deeply saddened by the news that nine servicemen had fallen into the sea and died, one person had been injured and seven others had gone missing during exercises in the Caspian Sea. I pray for those who lost their lives in this tragic incident, share the grief of their loved ones and extend my deepest condolences to their families. I wish the injured serviceman a speedy recovery. I hope the search-and-rescue operations will yield positive results. May they rest in peace,” the message said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said in a post on its “X” social media account that it was deeply saddened by the deaths during military exercises conducted by Kazakhstan’s Naval Forces in the Caspian Sea.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the servicemen who died, as well as to the people and government of brotherly Kazakhstan. May God rest the souls of those who passed away and grant their families strength and patience during these difficult days. We hope that the missing servicemen will be rescued safely and wish the injured serviceman a speedy recovery.”
It should be noted that on Sept. 24, 19 Kazakh servicemen were swept away by currents during a training and combat mission on the Caspian Sea coast in the Mangystau region after weather conditions deteriorated sharply. Nine of them died and three were rescued.
Military exercises are conducted to improve the readiness of personnel and coordination in emergency situations, while search-and-rescue operations continue to focus on locating those reported missing.
