Azerbaijan’s kickboxers have delivered a successful performance at the WAKO World Championships for youth and juniors held in Jesolo, Italy.
The team won 16 medals in total. The haul included 10 gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
10 world champions
Among the youth competitors, Ali Mayilzade (57 kg), Adil Asadov (54 kg) and Gulgez Ibrahimli (48 kg) won gold medals.
In the junior category, Huseyn Mahmud zadе (42 kg), Seymur Guliyev (45 kg), Huseyn Am irli (45 kg), Nizami Aliyev (48 kg), Ay khan Allahyarli (54 kg), Jamil Mammadov (42 kg) and Eldar Rzayev (75 kg) claimed the top spots on the podium.
Eduard Mammadov, vice president of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation, led the Azerbaijani national team.
Referees Aydin Koch Agabayov and Anar Mammadov renewed their international Grade A officiating status. Anar Mammadov also received the “Best Referee Ring” award, presented to the tournament’s top referee.
