Azerbaijan has been officially accepted as a member of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), a significant step in the country's ongoing efforts to advance its technological infrastructure and global digital integration.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported this development, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan.
According to the official statement, this membership will provide Azerbaijan with access to advanced digital policies, international standards, and platforms for experience exchange. The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for local startups to enter the markets of member countries, participate in joint acceleration programs, and access venture capital funds. Furthermore, the initiative will facilitate joint training and certification programs for youth and ICT specialists, thereby enhancing digital skills and fostering cooperation in e-commerce and data-driven business models.
Azerbaijan aims to strengthen its role as a digital bridge between the South Caucasus and Central Asia. By leveraging the experiences of member states in e-government, artificial intelligence, and smart solutions, the country intends to further digitize its public services. The Ministry highlighted that sharing Azerbaijan's ICT potential—including major projects like the "mygov" and "mygov Business" platforms, the "Digital Bridge" data exchange system, the "Digital Login" secure access system, the Digital Document Circulation System (RSD), and the SIMA biometric digital signature—will enhance the nation's export potential for digital products and services.
The DCO membership is expected to bolster cooperation across various sectors, including digital science, healthcare, education, trade, and security, while contributing to the coordination of policies that support digital transformation and technology market development.
Established in November 2020, the DCO is a global multilateral organization dedicated to accelerating the inclusive growth of the digital economy and ensuring digital prosperity for all.
