The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan has issued yellow and orange weather warnings regarding expected windy conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions from April 18 to 20.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Service reported that a south-west wind will prevail in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula under a yellow alert. Similar yellow warnings for western winds have been issued for Gazakh, Agstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Gadabay, Ganja, Goygol, Samukh, Aghdam, Yevlakh, Tartar, Barda, Goychay, Neftchala, Salyan, Guba, Shabran, Siyazan, Gobustan, Shaki, Gabala, Oguz, Kalbajar, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Lachin, and Zangilan, with wind speeds expected to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 m/s.
A more severe orange warning has been issued for Dashkasan, Goranboy, Naftalan, Mingachevir, Gusar, Khachmaz, Khizi, Lerik, and Yardimli. In these areas, western winds are forecast to intensify significantly, reaching speeds of 20.8 to 28.4 m/s. Such weather patterns in Azerbaijan are often associated with seasonal atmospheric changes, and authorities advise citizens to exercise caution near tall trees, temporary structures, and power lines during periods of high wind velocity.
