The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange weather warnings regarding strong winds expected in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions of Azerbaijan from August 27 to 30.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the service.

According to the forecast, a yellow alert has been issued for Nakhchivan, Goygol, Ganja, Samux, Aghstafa, Gazakh, Dashkasan, Tovuz, Gadabay, Gusar, Shamkir, Khizi, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Gobustan, Shirvan, Hajigabul, Neftchala, Aghdam, Mingachevir, Yevlax, Tartar, Barda, Bilasuvar, Salyan, Jalilabad, Masalli, Yardimli, Lerik, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Beylagan, Imishli, Saatli, Sabirabad, and Jabrayil. In these areas, westerly winds are expected to reach speeds of 13.9 to 20.7 meters per second.

Meanwhile, an orange alert is in effect for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Goranboy, Naftalan, Julfa, and Ordubad. Residents in these areas should prepare for north-westerly winds with speeds ranging from 20.8 to 28.4 meters per second.

The National Hydrometeorological Service advises citizens to take necessary precautions during these weather events, as high-speed winds can cause damage to infrastructure, disrupt power lines, and create hazardous conditions for outdoor activities. Such meteorological phenomena are common in Azerbaijan during the transition between summer and autumn, often influenced by the country's diverse topography and the Caspian Sea's climatic impact.
