Starting from the afternoon of August 20 and continuing through the afternoon of August 21, intermittent rainfall is expected across the northern and western regions of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a weather advisory regarding these conditions.
Meteorologists warn that the precipitation may be intensive and short-lived in certain areas, accompanied by lightning and potential hail. Due to the expected rainfall, water levels in rivers are projected to rise, and there is a high probability of short-term flash floods occurring in some mountain rivers.
The Greater and Lesser Caucasus mountain ranges are particularly susceptible to rapid hydrological changes during periods of heavy precipitation. Flash floods in these regions can pose significant risks to infrastructure and local agriculture, prompting authorities to advise residents and travelers in these areas to exercise caution and remain vigilant against sudden water surges.
