On March 30, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Seyid Abbas Araghchi of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the discussion focused on the current security dynamics in the region.

During the phone call, both sides expressed deep concern over the escalating regional situation. The ministers emphasized the urgent need to increase diplomatic efforts aimed at the swift cessation of military clashes in the area. Furthermore, the top diplomats exchanged views on various bilateral issues of mutual interest, highlighting the importance of maintaining open channels of communication between Baku and Tehran.

The dialogue comes amid a period of heightened geopolitical sensitivity in the South Caucasus and the broader Middle East. Azerbaijan and Iran share a significant land border and have historically maintained complex diplomatic relations centered on regional security, trade, and energy cooperation. Such high-level consultations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure stability and prevent further escalation in a region vital for international energy corridors and transit routes.
