RƏSMİ: Axtarışda olan məktəb direktoru ekstradisiya edildi

A former school principal placed on an international wanted list for fraud and abuse of official powers has been extradited from Türkiye to Azerbaijan, officials confirmed.

The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the extradition follows a criminal investigation conducted by the Surakhani District Prosecutor's Office in Baku. Investigators identified reasonable suspicions that Sevinc Huseynova, while serving as a school principal, exploited her official position to embezzle a total of 69,000 manats from several individuals. Due to her evasion of the investigation, an international search warrant had been issued for her arrest.

In accordance with the requirements of the European Convention on Extradition dated December 13, 1957, the motion filed by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan was granted by the competent authorities of the Republic of Türkiye. Following her detention in Türkiye, the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice is carrying out the necessary measures to complete her transfer to Azerbaijan.

Extradition processes between Azerbaijan and Türkiye are governed by both international conventions and bilateral legal assistance treaties aimed at combating transnational crime. This cooperation ensures that individuals accused of financial crimes and corruption cannot evade justice by crossing borders. In recent years, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has intensified its collaboration with international law enforcement agencies to ensure the return of fugitives linked to corruption and embezzlement cases.
