An "Intelligent Customs" information system has been established in Azerbaijan. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to formalize the initiative.
Under the new decree, the "Regulations on the Intelligent Customs Information System" have been officially approved. The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been designated as the owner and operator of the system, responsible for its formation, maintenance, operational organization, and ongoing development.
To ensure technical efficiency, the State Customs Committee is tasked with collaborating with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport to host the system within the "Government Cloud" (G-cloud), in accordance with the presidential decree dated June 3, 2019. Furthermore, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, alongside the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, must ensure compliance with existing regulations regarding the integration and archiving of state information systems.
This initiative represents a significant step in Azerbaijan's broader strategy to modernize public administration through digital transformation. By integrating customs processes into the national "Government Cloud," the government aims to enhance transparency, streamline trade procedures, and improve data security. The transition to an automated, intelligent system is expected to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and align national customs operations with international digital standards, facilitating more efficient cross-border trade and logistics management.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to resolve all outstanding issues arising from this decree to ensure the system's full implementation.
