Talented military personnel with high intellectual abilities serving in the armed forces are being assigned to units established within the National Defense University.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Defense issued the statement.
The ministry said these servicemen would participate in various projects and activities in the units in line with their specialties.
Conscripts who have graduated from bachelor’s or master’s programs at foreign higher education institutions ranked among the top 500 in the previous calendar year according to international rankings — the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking) — are eligible to serve in the intellectual units.
To ensure that conscripts called up for fixed-term active military service during the next recruitment month serve in the aforementioned units, they or their family members are asked to send the conscript’s first name, last name and patronymic, the recruitment quarter and year, as well as a PDF document confirming the full recognition — academic and professional — of the graduate’s specialty by the State Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, or a system extract confirming that the recognition process has begun, to [email protected] by Sept. 21.
The assignment of conscripts in this category to the intellectual units will be carried out במסגרת the same project as the recruitment of conscripts who scored 600 or more points in admission examinations administered by the State Examination Center.
Therefore, individuals who scored 600 or more points in admission examinations will be identified through information exchange with the relevant government agencies, and their family members do not need to submit an additional application.
The National Defense University’s intellectual units are intended to help the armed forces make use of conscripts’ academic training and specialized skills during their compulsory military service.
