The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan has approved the regulations for the "Unified Electronic Archive" information system, marking a significant step in the country's digital transformation. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed the decree amending the previous resolution dated February 9, 2024, regarding the acceptance, protection, and digitalization of electronic documents within the national archive fund.

Under the new decree, the National Archive Department is tasked with organizing, maintaining, and ensuring the effective use and development of the Unified Electronic Archive system. Furthermore, the National Archive Department, in coordination with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, must take necessary measures to include the system in the "Unified Register of State Information Resources, Systems, and E-services" and the state register of personal data information systems. The State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, alongside the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, will ensure the implementation of requirements stemming from the presidential decree dated September 12, 2018, regarding the integration and archiving of state information resources.

This initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to modernize its administrative infrastructure and transition to a fully digital government framework. By centralizing electronic documents, the government aims to increase transparency, reduce bureaucratic delays, and ensure the long-term preservation of digital heritage. The implementation of the Unified Electronic Archive aligns with international standards for data management and security, providing a secure platform for the storage of sensitive state information while facilitating easier access for authorized government agencies in Baku and across the regions.
