Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Al-Shaar on Sept. 26.
The Cabinet of Ministers told the “Operative Information Center-OMM” about the meeting.
The meeting highlighted the significance of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.
The sides noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Syria have recently developed with positive momentum.
They said meetings and regular contacts between President Ilham Aliyev and Ahmed Al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic during the transitional period, had created favorable conditions for strengthening bilateral political dialogue and expanding cooperation in various areas.
The supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to Syria was described as an important example of economic cooperation between the two countries that has produced practical results.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of humanitarian initiatives, including a project aimed at restoring Syria’s education infrastructure with the support of the Azerbaijani Government.
The sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Syria in trade and the economy, investment, energy, infrastructure and humanitarian affairs.
Samir Sharifov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, attended the meeting.
The discussions reflect the broader role of investment, energy and humanitarian projects in strengthening bilateral ties. Azerbaijan and Syria have also used high-level contacts to identify practical areas for cooperation and support reconstruction-related initiatives.
