Azerbaijan and Laos maintain strong political ties and have sustained diplomatic relations for 30 years.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this while delivering a joint statement to the press with Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith in Baku.
The head of state said political relations had developed successfully over many years:
“Over these years, we have consistently shown solidarity and mutual support within many international organizations. This remains the case today, and I am confident it will continue to be so.”
Aliyev emphasized that interparliamentary ties were also developing. Friendship groups have been established in both countries, which, he said, demonstrated successful cooperation both within interparliamentary organizations and in bilateral formats.
Azerbaijan and Laos established diplomatic relations in 1995. Their cooperation includes engagement in international organizations, where both countries can coordinate positions and provide mutual support. Friendship groups in the two countries’ parliaments also provide a channel for strengthening legislative contacts and bilateral dialogue.
