A fiber-optic cable link between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will be commissioned by the end of 2026.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the statement at an event titled “Restoring trust in a fragmented world: The South Caucasus as a pillar of global connectivity and investment stability,” held as part of the second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku under his patronage.
“By the end of this year, we will commission the fiber-optic cable line that will connect Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan along the seabed of the Caspian Sea. This is also our advantage,” the President said.
The Trans-Caspian fiber-optic project is intended to strengthen digital connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Submarine cable links can help diversify regional communications infrastructure and support faster, more resilient data transmission between the two regions.
