Azerbaijan and Israel have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing "The Times of Israel," that the announcement was made by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the report, the document was signed in Jerusalem by the head of Israel's National AI Directorate, Brigadier General (Res.) Erez Eshel, and Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Prime Minister's office stated that both parties intend to further deepen their existing cooperation and alliance through AI initiatives.

The partnership is set to encompass supercomputer infrastructure, the application of AI in civilian sectors, human capital development, and joint scientific research. "We must ensure that we are among the leading countries in this field. I believe that together we can do more and do it better," Netanyahu said during his speech at the event.

The agreement marks a significant expansion of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Israel, which has historically focused on energy and defense. In recent years, Baku has prioritized digital transformation and the development of a high-tech economy as part of its "Azerbaijan 2030" national priorities. Israel, known globally as a "startup nation," remains a key technological partner for Azerbaijan in implementing advanced digital solutions and fostering innovation across the South Caucasus region.
