President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have agreed to continue steps toward strengthening sustainable peace, advancing the normalization of interstate relations, and enhancing connectivity through direct bilateral contacts.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this agreement was highlighted in a press statement following the meeting between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek.
The leaders acknowledged the contributions of parliamentarians and civil society representatives toward building mutual trust and supporting a broader peace agenda, viewing their involvement in confidence-building measures positively.
The ongoing dialogue between Baku and Yerevan is a critical component of the post-conflict normalization process in the South Caucasus. Since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, both nations have engaged in various diplomatic formats to address issues such as the delimitation of state borders, the opening of regional transport corridors, and the drafting of a comprehensive peace treaty to ensure long-term stability in the region.
