Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight strikes on Saturday, with casualties and damage reported on both sides, officials said.
Four people were injured in a Russian drone attack in Hostomel, northwest of Kyiv, Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv regional military administration, said on Telegram.
Bridge damaged in Kyiv
Russia also attacked Kyiv’s Pivnichnyi Bridge, targeting a major crossing in the capital for a third consecutive day, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
Traffic from the left bank to the right bank was blocked after the attack damaged the road surface and overhead trolleybus lines, Klitschko said.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces struck Ukrainian infrastructure and a maritime vessel it alleged was supporting Ukraine’s armed forces. It said the overnight attacks hit the Pivnichnyi road bridge over the Dnieper River, a logistics centre in Hostomel used to store supplies for Ukrainian forces, and a dry cargo ship carrying dual-use goods to the port of Odesa.
Injuries reported in Russia
In Russia’s Kaluga region, several people suffered minor injuries in a Ukrainian attack that damaged apartment buildings and private homes, Governor Vladislav Shapsha said on Telegram.
Russia’s Defense Ministry also said 218 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over several Russian regions and Crimea, as well as the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014.
Claims made by both sides could not be independently verified amid the ongoing war.
