Armenia to host CIS Games in 2029

Armenia will host the CIS Games in 2029.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the decision was made at a meeting of the Council for Physical Education and Sports of the CIS member states in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Yerevan will be declared the CIS sports capital that year, according to the meeting.

Representatives of nine CIS member states — Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — attended the meeting.

The CIS Games aim to strengthen sporting ties among participating countries, support the development of physical education and sports, and promote various sports. The Commonwealth of Independent States brings together several countries of the former Soviet Union and regularly holds cooperation events in areas including sport, culture and youth affairs.
