Paşinyan: Ermənistan ABŞ-nin İrana qarşı yeni sanksiyalarını araşdırır

The Armenian government is currently conducting a thorough analysis of the new sanctions package imposed by the United States against Iran. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue during a briefing following a Cabinet of Ministers meeting.

Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia’s banking sector has maintained a cautious and disciplined policy regarding sanction risks. While some experts have characterized this approach as overly conservative, the Prime Minister noted that their strategy has proven effective in practice.

The government is now examining the specific content of the US decision to determine potential impacts on other sectors of the economy.

"The document is extensive, and we are currently analyzing it. It is possible that some issues will not even require further discussion," Pashinyan stated.

He added that if necessary, consultations will be held with international partners. The Prime Minister recalled that when sanctions were imposed against Russia, Armenia managed to maintain trade relations with Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) without facing significant sanction risks.

On August 24, the US Department of the Treasury announced a new package of sanctions against Iran. The restrictions target digital assets and cryptocurrencies, access to modern technologies and the defense industry, gold trade, as well as the aviation and shipping sectors. According to US officials, the new sanctions will also impact the "shadow fleet" operating in the UAE, Hong Kong, China, Switzerland, and various European countries.
