Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks while addressing the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
After noting Azerbaijan’s historic victory, the absence of a conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia today and other factors, the head of state explained why increasing the country’s military strength remains necessary. “I think the answer is very clear. This is always necessary for every country, because our people have faced this tragedy,” he said.
Aliyev’s remarks underline the importance Azerbaijan places on maintaining its defense capabilities even after its victory and amid the absence of an active conflict with Armenia. Countries generally develop and maintain military capabilities as part of their national security and deterrence policies.
