Armen Grigoryan has been dismissed from his position as the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.

According to reports from Armenian media cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Alen Simonyan, who previously served as the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, has been appointed to replace Grigoryan in this key security role.

Grigoryan had held the position of Secretary of the Security Council since August 2021, overseeing critical aspects of Armenia's national security strategy during a period of significant regional geopolitical shifts.

The appointment of Simonyan, a prominent political figure within the ruling party, is viewed by analysts as a strategic consolidation of power within the Armenian government. The Security Council of Armenia plays a central role in coordinating the country's defense and foreign policy, and this leadership change is expected to influence Yerevan's ongoing political trajectory and its approach to regional security matters.
