Admission to the "Physical Education Teaching" specialty at secondary specialized educational institutions (colleges) in the Republic of Azerbaijan has been suspended for the 2026/2027 academic year. According to the admission plan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, no seats have been allocated for this specialty on the basis of both general (9-year) and full (11-year) secondary education.
The State Examination Center (SEC) informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that student recruitment for physical education teaching will no longer be conducted in colleges starting from this year. As a result of this decision, the specialized admission commissions—code 6401 for the 11-year education base and code 152 for the 9-year education base—will not be operational during the current admission cycle.
This move is part of broader educational reforms in Azerbaijan aimed at enhancing the quality of pedagogical training. By transitioning the preparation of physical education teachers primarily to higher education institutions, the Ministry of Science and Education intends to ensure that future educators receive a more comprehensive academic and professional foundation. This restructuring aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic goals to modernize its vocational and specialized education systems to meet international standards and evolving labor market demands.
