Shukurov also addressed criticism of head coach Ayxan Abbasov. He said a local coach could motivate the team more effectively and noted that two matches still lie ahead, adding that it was too early to draw conclusions about the results.
Accuracy will be key against Lithuania
Shukurov said the national team had looked faster and more accurate in its away match against Lithuania. He said that game had given the team confidence that it could beat Lithuania. In his view, a win will require accurate play, better finishing and defensive alertness against the opponent’s fast attacks.
