A total of 1,996 art teachers have successfully passed the certification process this year, according to official data.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli shared this information during a public hearing on "The current state and development prospects of art schools" organized by the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee for Science and Education.
The Minister noted that while some disappointing moments were observed during the certification exams held so far, there were also many positive and encouraging results.
"One of the essential steps in this field was the organization and improvement of the recruitment process for new teachers and directors through the State Examination Center, which is already yielding very positive results," the Minister stated.
Adil Kerimli also emphasized that during this period, it was discovered that some teachers in music, art, and archeology schools within the Ministry of Culture system did not possess adequate expertise in their respective specialties. The ongoing reforms aim to address these gaps and ensure a higher standard of education in Azerbaijan's cultural institutions.
The certification process is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Culture to modernize the vocational education system in the arts. By involving the State Examination Center, Azerbaijan aims to ensure transparency and meritocracy in the hiring of educators, ultimately enhancing the quality of training for the next generation of Azerbaijani artists and musicians. These reforms align with the national priority of preserving and promoting the country's rich cultural heritage through professionalized education.
