The captain of Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flight ADY 730, operating on the Abu Dhabi–Baku route, has decided to return to the departure airport due to the closure of regional airspace.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the aircraft is returning to its base at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The decision was made based on the principle of prioritizing flight safety amid volatile conditions in the region.

The disruption follows reports that the State of Israel launched strikes against Iran today to neutralize perceived threats, leading to an immediate state of emergency across Israel. Consequently, several countries in the Middle East have closed their airspace for security reasons. Reports indicate that the United States is involved in supporting the measures related to the strikes on Iran. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, the United States has maintained a firm stance on regional security and the protection of strategic interests in the Middle East.

Airspace closures in the Middle East frequently impact international transit corridors connecting the Gulf region with the Caucasus. Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku serves as a major regional hub, and such diversions are standard precautionary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew during periods of heightened geopolitical instability.
