5.4 magnitude earthquake strikes Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa province

A magnitude-5.4 earthquake struck the Karaköprü district of Türkiye’s southeastern Şanlıurfa province at 10:40 a.m. local time (0740 GMT), Anadolu Agency reported.

According to information published on the website of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicentre was located in Karaköprü. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.39 kilometres below the surface.

The tremor was also felt in neighbouring provinces.

Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak said there had been no reports of deaths or structural collapses in the city based on initial assessments.

Teams are continuing inspections in the affected area, Şıldak added.
