Azerbaijani lightweight fighter Zaur Hajiyev, who competes in ACA, has discussed a rematch with Kazakh fighter Artem Reznikov. The bout is expected to take place at an ACA event in St. Petersburg on Dec. 25.
Hajiyev said he had agreed to the fight, although it has not yet been officially announced. Matchmakers had spoken with him about it, he said, adding that the rematch would give them a chance to settle an unresolved issue from their previous bout.
“Everything is moving in that direction; it just hasn’t been officially announced yet. The matchmakers spoke with me, and I agreed. This is unfinished business, and now we can settle it,” Hajiyev said.
The Azerbaijani fighter said Reznikov should not expect to receive the support of the St. Petersburg crowd that he might anticipate. Hajiyev said his opponent was wrong to think he would feel at home in the city and added that he would force him to end his career. In comments reported by MMA.MetaRatings, Hajiyev also claimed that the judges would not help Reznikov.
Hajiyev and Reznikov first fought at ACA 205 in June. The bout ended in a draw by split decision.
Hajiyev has four wins, one loss and one draw in his professional career. Reznikov has 26 wins, 11 losses and one draw.
