Qarabag player Zakaria Sawo said the team’s main goal is to win the league title. He said they want to secure a victory in their upcoming match against Neftchi.
Return to the pitch after injury
Sawo said his recovery from injury had gone well. He said the club’s medical staff had worked hard to help him recover and that he was pleased to be back on the pitch.
Asked about Qarabag’s failure to qualify for the league phase of European competitions, Sawo stressed that the outcome did not depend on one player alone. He noted that the team has 25 to 30 players and that football is a collective sport.
The player said they were disappointed not to reach the league phase of European competitions. Sawo said the team’s full attention is now focused on winning the league title.
Match against Neftchi and national team choice
Qarabag, who will face Neftchi in the next round, are targeting all three points. Sawo described their opponents as a strong team, while noting that Qarabag would also take to the pitch to win.
Asked whether he would choose the national teams of Sweden or Gambia, Sawo said he has family ties to both countries: his mother is from Sweden and his father is from Gambia. The player said he would be ready to accept a call-up from either country.
