The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow alert regarding expected windy weather conditions in various regions of Azerbaijan on February 8-9.
According to information provided by the service to Operative Information Center-OMM, a western wind is expected to blow in Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gazakh, Agstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Ganja, Naftalan, Samux, Goranboy, Mingachevir, Tartar, Yevlax, Barda, Khizi, Gusar, Gobustan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Salyan, Neftchala, Hajigabul, Sabirabad, Lerik, and Yardimli. The wind speed is forecasted to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.
A yellow alert indicates a potential weather risk, signaling that the weather conditions could be dangerous for certain activities, though not life-threatening for the general population if precautions are taken. The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide timely updates and ensure public safety during seasonal weather transitions. Residents in the affected regions, particularly in mountainous areas and the Garabagh region, are advised to remain cautious of falling trees or unsecured structures during high-wind intervals.
