Wolverhampton couple say joining Diljit Dosanjh on stage was a dream come true

A couple from Wolverhampton have described joining Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh on stage during his Birmingham concert as a “dream come true”.

Ravneet and Pritpal Mann were selected from the audience during Dosanjh’s show at the Utilita Arena on Friday, according to the BBC. The couple said the singer noticed them in the crowd and invited them to join him in dancing.

“This is what cloud nine must feel like,” Pritpal said, describing the experience, which was filmed by members of their family.

‘It just felt like it was our time’

The couple, who run the Jodi Dancers school, said they had attended several of Dosanjh’s previous concerts and had always hoped to perform with him. They stood at the front of the venue wearing T-shirts bearing the singer’s name.

“It was crazy. I was definitely manifesting it all week,” Ravneet said. “I was saying all week, ‘we will get on stage, we will do this’, and it happened.”

Pritpal said he had been a fan of Dosanjh for 15 years and had attended concerts in Leeds, Birmingham, Wembley and Manchester.

“It just felt like it was our time,” he said.

‘Our dream came true’

Ravneet said Dosanjh first made a heart sign towards her, which she described as enough to make the concert special. Pritpal then gestured to the singer to indicate his love of Bhangra dancing.

Dosanjh responded by signalling that they should wait for a couple of minutes before pointing to them and inviting them on stage two songs later.

“I literally grabbed his arm and ran,” Ravneet said. She joked that she became so excited that she briefly forgot about her husband.

Pritpal described the moment on stage as “a blur”. Ravneet added: “It was adrenaline, pure excitement, pure joy and pure love. Our dream came true.”

The couple said Dosanjh was “genuine” and “so nice”. He later gave them a gift box containing hooded tops and signed several T-shirts, which they said they would keep forever.

Dosanjh is currently touring the UK and became the first Punjabi singer to headline Wembley Stadium last week, according to the venue.

Ravneet and Pritpal, who met through their shared love of dance, have run their dance school for about eight years. They hold weekly classes in Wolverhampton, Telford and Oldbury.
