The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia urged American citizens on Monday to remain vigilant amid the current security situation and the potential for drone or missile attacks.
In a security alert on the US diplomatic mission’s website, the embassy and consulates advised US citizens to follow guidance in national alerts issued by Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense.
The mission said there had been no change to its security and operational posture. Regular and emergency consular services remained available to US citizens, it added.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington intended to uphold its bilateral security commitments with Saudi Arabia amid renewed military confrontations involving Houthi forces in Yemen.
Yemen has been in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces in 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
A truce agreed in 2022 collapsed in July, and fighting has since escalated.
