The Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anaclaudia Rossbach, has officially declared the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) open in Baku.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Rossbach made the announcement during the official opening ceremony of WUF13 held in the capital today. Addressing the international delegation, she emphasized that the forum serves as a critical platform for addressing the most pressing urban challenges facing the global community today.

According to the Executive Director, WUF13 participants have gathered in Baku to address a fundamental global question: "How can we ensure accessible and decent housing for everyone in an era of uncertainty, instability, and destruction?" The discussions are expected to focus on sustainable urban development, climate resilience, and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.

The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting this prestigious event in Azerbaijan underscores the country's growing role in international diplomacy and its commitment to sustainable development goals. As the host city, Baku provides a unique backdrop for these discussions, showcasing its own rapid urban transformation and integration of modern infrastructure with historical heritage.
