The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially closed its embassy in Tehran and recalled its ambassador from the country.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the ministry issued a statement confirming the move: "The United Arab Emirates announces the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the recall of the ambassador to Iran, as well as all members of the diplomatic mission."

The ministry stated that this decision was prompted by strikes launched by Iran against the territory of the UAE.

Diplomatic relations between the UAE and Iran have faced significant fluctuations over the past decade, often influenced by broader regional dynamics and security concerns in the Persian Gulf. This latest escalation marks a severe downturn in bilateral ties, reflecting heightened tensions in the Middle East. Historically, the UAE has sought to balance its economic interests with regional security alliances, but direct military provocations often lead to such decisive diplomatic ruptures to ensure national sovereignty and security.
