The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement marking the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from the occupation of Armenian-Bolshevik forces by the Caucasian Islamic Army.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the statement said:
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Azerbaijani brothers on the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku, the capital of dear Azerbaijan, from occupation, and respectfully commemorate all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence.”
The Caucasian Islamic Army entered Baku on Sept. 15, 1918, helping establish control over the city during the final months of World War I. The anniversary is commemorated in Azerbaijan and Türkiye as a symbol of the countries’ historical ties and shared sacrifices.
