About 40 international travelers from 13 countries visited Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region, AnewZ reported. They visited historical and religious sites and observed restoration work, infrastructure development and mine-clearance activities.
The delegation, led by Charles Veley, founder of the Most Traveled People Club, included visitors from the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
During a three-day trip across Garabagh and East Zangazur, the group covered hundreds of kilometers. The travelers visited prehistoric caves, ancient mosques and monasteries, as well as sites where restoration work is underway.
The program also gave visitors a look at new transport infrastructure, and they observed mine-clearance operations in the region.
Some of the travelers were visiting Azerbaijan for the first time, while others had returned to see the changes that have taken place in recent years.
The trip gave the visitors an opportunity to learn about Garabagh’s rich cultural heritage and ongoing transformation, and to see centuries of history alongside modern development.
In AnewZ’s special report, “Discovering Garabagh,” Fidan Sayyadli accompanies the international travelers through the region and presents their impressions of its changing landscape.
